A Walk to the Beechwoods
1st May 2016 at 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Keep your fingers crossed for a sunny Spring day on Sunday 1st May (Bank Holiday weekend), when the Queen Edith’s Community Forum, your local association, has a late-morning walk heading out to the Gog Magog hills to the south of Queen Edith’s. We will be accompanied by local author Robert Macfarlane and by ecology experts from the Wildlife Trust. Anyone is welcome to join us! We’ll gather outside the Queen Edith pub on Wulfstan Way at 11am, then take a leisurely stroll up to the Beechwoods Nature Reserve on Wort’s Causeway. If you’ve never visited before, you’re in for a treat. If you’re a regular visitor then you’ll know just how magical these mature woodlands can be. It’s a round trip of about 3 miles, with gently sloping terrain, which will hopefully be dry underfoot by May. Children accompanied by a responsible adult are welcome, as are well-behaved dogs on a lead. Please dress for the weather conditions and wear suitable footwear. Due to the uneven, sometimes uphill, terrain and some tricky road crossings, the walk is probably not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or people who are not confident walkers. No cycles please. Note that there are no loos on the route.
