The City Council’s Area Committees provide the opportunity for all of us to give our views and ideas for improving community life in our neighbourhood. For example, the committees have a say in the decision making on the use of developer contributions for improvements to community and sports facilities, open spaces and play areas.
Area committees meet four times a year, and the South Area Committee (which is made up of councillors from Cherry Hinton, Trumpington and Queen Edith’s Wards) will be meeting next on Monday, 14th January at 7.00 pm, from 7pm to around 9pm. Items for discussion include the Cherry Hinton Lakes project, and a report from the Environmental team. One item to be raised will be verge damage in Mowbray Road, Fendon Road and Queen Edith’s Way, where verges are in danger of being destroyed by builders’ vans at the many sites where building work is going on.
The full documentation for the meeting can be seen here (note that the Environmental Reports have been replaced by a separately-linked version). The meeting is the first to be held at the new Clay Farm Centre in Trumpington.
More details are at the City Council website here.
