Community Action Morning and Skip Day

2nd September 2017 at 9:30 am1:00 pm

The annual ‘skip day’ is this Saturday, 2 September!

We even have a poster now too.

And don’t you love the illustration of Wulfstan Way shops which local resident Susan Abbs has done for us?

There will be skips in the QE Chapel car park (as usual), stalls and fun activities outside the shops across the road (or in the Chapel if it rains, which it won’t).

Confirmed so far:

  • Recycling skips (no commercial waste, skips open at 9.30am – please do not arrive earlier, you will be sent away)
  • ‘Dr Bike’ bike maintenance by Outspoken Cycles
  • Children’s circus skills workshop
  • ‘Take it or Leave it’ stall by the Cambridge City Council Recycling Champions – and find out how you can join their Streets and Open Spaces volunteers – you can earn Time Credits too.
  • Free dog microchipping from the City Council dog team
  • Secondhand book stall by Friends of Rock Road Library – clear out your bookshelves!
  • RNLI merchandise from Geoff Heathcock
  • Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants – so pleased to see them return!
  • QE Medical Practice patient participation group – find out more and join them
  • Local Cub and Brownie groups – including giant bubbles and juggling kits from 28th cubs.
  • Queen Edith’s Abundance – spare produce, flowers, herbs and preserves – swap and share – with a cash collection for Queen Edith’s in Bloom (see below) – including to buy more plants and bulbs for the Wulfstan Way Raingardens project.
  • Queen Edith’s in Bloom with the 28th cubs – find out about local RHS-affiliated ‘Greening Grey Britain’ projects, including Nightingale garden, the Wulfstan Way Raingardens project and how you can get involved
  • Cambs Fire and Rescue
  • Residents associations: Hills Road area and Queen Edith’s Way
  • Some of our Local Councillors will also be in attendance, supporting a campaign to oppose cuts to local Childrens’ Centres – come and talk to them!
