Part of the Homerton 250 Series of Events at Homerton College, Hills Road

An amazing event for anyone interested in Shakespeare and performance. A Masterclass and Panel Discussion with Dr Abigail Rokison-Woodall, Simon Russell Beale, and Professor Michael Dobson leading an exploration into Shakespeare performance, featuring a new edition of Hamlet by Arden.

Join us for this early evening event celebrating theatre at Homerton College, with Fellows, alumni and current students.

The evening will begin with a launch of the new Arden Shakespeare Performance Editions. This will be introduced by series editors Professor Michael Dobson, Simon Russell Beale, and Dr Abigail Rokison-Woodall (Associate Fellow of Homerton College). The launch event will give an insight into preparing Shakespeare’s texts for rehearsal and performance, and will include a masterclass with celebrated actor Simon Russell Beale and current Homerton students, working on scenes from the Arden Shakespeare Performance Edition of Hamlet.

The second part of the event will take the form of a panel, chaired by playwright and Associate Fellow of Homerton College, Steve Waters, with alumni of the college discussing their experiences of working with Shakespeare in a professional context since graduation. The panel will feature Sarah Gordon, founder and artistic director of the Young Shakespeare Company; Sam Yates (theatre director, whose work includes Cymbeline at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe) and Ellie Nunn (actress, recently Viola in Grassroots Shakespeare London‘s production of Twelfth Night as part of the Shakespeare 400 celebrations).
