Indoor Meeting-Birds in a Cage- Derek Niemann

17th January at 7:30 pm9:30 pm

- Free – £3.00

Guardian columnist and nature author Derek Niemann will be presenting this illustrated talk to the RSPB Cambridge Members Group. The event will take place in the Wilkinson Room of St Johns Church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8RN.

This is the inspiring true story of how a passion for birds enabled four young men to escape from the horrors of a German PoW camp.

Derek will talk to us about his book, which is not simply a book about birds, nor is it a biography of Conder, Waterston, Buxton and Barrett, and nor is it a history book about the PoW camps of World War II. It contains, of course, elements of all three.

The story that Derek weaves is a tale of survival, endurance, adventure and resourcefulness all bound inextricably to a love of birds. An excellent start to our 2018 indoor events programme!

Time: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start

Price: Free to local group members. Guests welcome – please pay at the door £3.00.
