‘Lady Macbeth’

Dir. William Oldroyd, UK 2016, Cert 15, 1h29m [Rikki handout, intro & discussion]

Russian writer Nicolai Leskov’s 1865 novel Lady Makbeth of Mtensk is transposed to late nineteenth century rural England where 17-year-old Katherine (Florence Pugh) is sold by her father into a loveless, forced marriage with a landowner twice her age and explores the dark and compelling passion for a labourer on her husband’s estate.

Doors open at 6.30 p.m. for a 7.00 p.m. Introduction and screening. All welcome.
… an exciting film group at Rock Road Library has a mission to bring a unique opportunity to see new films in familiar surroundings!
Each film is introduced and given a context by Rikki Morgan-Tamosunas – or one of the film group – followed, after the screening, by further discussion.
Please e-mail FRRL with your suggestions for films that you consider to be entertaining, interesting and will stimulate discussion!
No need to book, just turn up on the night.
If you would like to guarantee a seat email: rockroadfriends @yahoo.com
